Oligarchy and Plutocracy: Similar to aristocracy, however it was not just the nobility that ruled, it could be any small group of people within a society that ruled – such as certain families or the wealthy. Feudalism: A system that developed in Europe in the 8th century. A lord would grant land to a person on condition that the person performed homage and service to that lord.
Gradually as individual rights become more important than the growth an the empire, revolutions form which result other forms of government. Under these last two forms of governments the citizens can expect basic things like personal liberty, equality, respect for human rights, and justice by law. So by comparison to other forms of governments, these are probably the best that mankind has to offer. But only by comparison. There are serious issues with democracy as a form of government. As the prime minister of India said that “Democracy is a form of government which may be defended, not as being good, but as being less bad than any other.” American writer Henry Miller described the democratic voting system – “The blind leading the blind. It’s the democratic way” he said. Henry Miller was highlighting the point that everyone may get a vote in a democracy, but if they are not well informed about the decisions they need to make then the nation makes bad decisions.
Why is it that mankind has experimented with just about every conceivable form of government, (plus variations and mixtures of these)…but none seem to last.
